L'UCI confirme sa place parmi les meilleures Fédérations Internationales en matière de gouvernance

L’UCI améliore à nouveau son score dans l’évaluation de l’ASOIF

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) welcomes the results of the Sixth Review of International Federation Governance conducted by the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) for the 2025-2026 period.

The UCI retains its place in the A1 category, the highest classification in the study. With a total score of 225 points (out of a maximum of 240), up from 218 in the previous evaluation, it continues to improve its performance and confirms its standing as one of the best governing international sports organisations.

The UCI has therefore maintained its position among the top three highest-rated International Federations for the third consecutive edition.

The A1 category brings together the International Federations for athletics, aquatics, rowing, badminton, baseball and softball, basketball, equestrian sports, football, rugby, tennis, table tennis, triathlon, and volleyball. A score of 210 points was required to be classified in the A1 category.

The review is a vital catalyst for International Federations’ continued improvement. ASOIF President Ingmar De Vos said: “Upholding high IF governance standards is an important element of ASOIF’s Strategy 2026-2032 and absolutely essential for defending IFs’ autonomy, enabling them to fulfil their vital role in the complex international world of sport. I would like to thank our member federations for their commitment to this important project, which can be challenging given the multiple competing priorities and responsibilities they face.”

In total, 36 International Federations that are members of ASOIF were assessed on various aspects of their governance. Responses were collected and analysed independently in order to establish each organisation's final score.

The progress made by the UCI across the successive editions of the study reflects a consistent improvement in its governance practices:

  • 2017: 126 points out of 50 indicators

  • 2018: 152 points out of 50 indicators

  • 2020: 170 points out of 50 indicators

  • 2022: 185 points out of 50 indicators

  • 2024: 218 points out of 60 indicators

  • 2026: 225 points out of 60 indicators.

The evaluation notably highlights the progress made by the UCI across several key areas:

  • transparency (maximum score)

  • integrity

  • democracy

  • development and sustainability

  • control mechanisms.

This result confirms the positive impact of the UCI's Agenda 2030, which provides a roadmap for global cycling built around strategic priorities in the areas of integrity, sustainability, solidarity, innovation, and development.

UCI Director General Amina Lanaya declared: “The results of the sixth edition of the ASOIF International Federations governance review once again confirm the UCI's position as one of the leading sports organisations in terms of governance. Improving our score whilst retaining our place among the top Federations demonstrates the relevance of the work carried out within the framework of our Agenda 2030. We take great pride in this recognition and will continue to strengthen our governance standards in order to build on our progress in the years to come.”
